I was dead, then living and breathing again. I was laughing, then weeping, then laughing again. The power of love's sweet magic overwhelmed me again, healing the dull silence in my heart. And then I was singing again. I was roaring, bravely, with the voices of lions, again, then softly, like the shimmering stars in the sunset, again. --Rumi, translation by Bilal Hyde Imam Bilal will lead an African Sufi dhikr ceremony based on the traditional style from the region of the Nile. We will meet at San Francisco Zazen at 2219 Filbert Street on Sat. Jan 6, starting at 8 PM. All are welcome. This dhikr is usually done seated. There will be zafu pillows on blankets, or you may bring a pillow, prayer rug, or blanket to be comfortable sitting on the floor; chairs will also be available. You are invited to arrive twenty minutes before 8 PM so you can be seated and settled by 8. We anticipate finishing and leaving by 10 PM. A donation of $20, $10, or whatever you can give would be appreciated; no one turned away for lack of funds.
